Name: Shelah
Age: thirtysomething
Occupation: Stay-at-home mom
Previous Occupations: college writing and literature instructor, admissions counselor, middle-school English and French teacher, Belgian bakery worker, teaching assistant for study abroad in London, secretary, photographer’s assistant, waitress and for one memorable day, a member of the BYU grounds crew.
Educational Experience: MA in American Culture Studies (basically American lit), BA in English Teaching with a French minor (but a decade later I’ve forgotten all the French). I’ve often said I want to have a PhD by 40, but the more time I stay at home with kids, the less I feel the desire to go back to school.
Family: married for 10 years to Eddie, the man I've been in love with for nearly half my life. He's a cardiologist in training (ad nauseum). We have four kids: boys who are seven and two, a five-year-old girl, and a baby girl.
Interesting things about me: I met my husband at computer camp. I’m a convert to the LDS Church. I’m a Democrat, but live in a red town in a red state.
